We serve as the Economic Development Committee within Calhoun Community Foundation. Our activities range from hosting events, securing grant funding, to charitable works for the betterment of the community.
Our goal is to fortify and grow Calhoun County, IL so that our businesses and community members may prosper, ensuring progress with preservation.
Wittmond's is the oldest business in Calhoun County (1847) being owned and operated by the same family for five generations. Rumored to have been part of the Underground Railroad during the Civil War. Individuals, families, clubs, people who enjoy nostalgia and tradition love visiting. Wittmond's reminds them of going to their grandmother's house for a home-cooked meal. The Hotel and Restaurant are on the National Historic Register and was voted (2013) 'Best Dining Destination' by the Riverfront Times -- and Wittmond's still is! In addition to delicious food, specialty adult beverages are featured seasonal such as their famous Peach Daiquiris.
CGA is a membership-based committee within the foundation. Any person, association, corporation, partnership, or estate having an interest in the objectives of the organization shall be eligible for participation.
